Two men accused of stealing running car outside Webster store
Sawadogo and Sandi
WEBSTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Two Webster men are accused of stealing a van that was left running outside a store on Lake Street.
Yakouba Sawadogo, 22, and Mohamed Sandi, 24, are both facing larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy charges following their Friday afternoon arrest.
Investigators say a green Mazda mini van was reported stolen from Sunnyside Farms just before 2 p.m. The owner reportedly left the van running while they went into the convenience store.
While the owner was in the convenience store, investigators say Sawadogo entered the driver's seat and began to drive away. At this time, the owner saw what was happening and began chasing Sandi who was reportedly trying to get into the van.
Police later found Sandi trying to hide on the front porch of 49 Lake Street, which is listed as the home of both suspects. He was placed under arrest.
A short time later, police arrested Sawadogo as he attempted to enter the apartment building through the back yard.
Both men are scheduled for arraignment on Monday morning in Dudley District Court.
