Posted: Updated:
CHERRY HILL, N.J. -

An argument Saturday afternoon in Cherry Hill led to a stabbing where police say a 43-year-old man used scissors to stab the friend of his wife's son in the chest.

The stabbing happened inside of a home on the 300 block of Monroe Street in Cherry Hill around 2 p.m.

Police say 43-year-old Richard Barrington was taken into custody and faces several charges.

The incident started out as an argument between Barrington and his wife. When when police say the argument turned physical, the wife's son, a 20-year-old, got involved, which led to a fight between Barrington and the son.

During the second fight, police say a friend of the wife's son, a 19-year-old, got involved, causing a fight between the three men.

After a few minutes, the fight ended and the three went to separate areas of the home to calm down, but that's when police say Barrington went into the bathroom to get a pair of scissors. According to police, he then confronted the son's friend and stabbed him.

The son's friend was taken to Cooper Hospital in Camden. The wife's son was treated for a hand injury at JFK Hospital in Cherry Hill.
