Slow recovery at storm-battered Jersey shore

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Wind, snow and rain once again hit the storm-torn New Jersey coast.

Christopher Niebling of the Mantoloking Office of Emergency Management helped run the borough when Superstorm Sandy struck. He is also experienced numerous winter and now spring storms, which continue to slow the rebuilding process

Monday's storm also provides a number of obstacles for law enforcement. John Bourke, an Ocean County sheriff's officer, patrols the beaches to keep people off of them while contractors work and to prevent looting.

Every time a storm hits, the sand dunes that were originally installed to prevent any flooding on nearby Route 35 keep getting washed away.

So in an effort to combat that, residents in nearby Bayhead are footing the bill to build a new dune system by putting huge boulders in front of their homes that will be covered by sand in the near future.

For decades, making some quick cash was the main drive behind so many who took the ride down the parkway to Atlantic City. But with so much to choose from nowadays, it looks like Atlantic City is in a lot of trouble.
