Boston mayor moves back home after recuperation

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) - Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has moved back home from an official city residence where he recuperated from a series of ailments.

Menino spent three months in Parkman House, a city-owned mansion on Beacon Hill. It has an elevator and is close to his office and his physical therapist. The Boston Globe reports the mayor told reporters Monday that he moved back to his home in the Readville neighborhood last weekend.

Menino said it's "great" to be sleeping in his own bed.

The mayor and his wife moved into Parkman House Dec. 23 after he was released from the hospital. He first was treated in October for a respiratory infection and blood clots that arose on a vacation to Italy. He fractured a vertebra in his back while in the hospital, and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
