WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) -

One person is dead after a horrific, two vehicle crash at the intersection of Nine Mile and Ryan roads Monday evening in Warren.

Police say a Detroit man driving a pickup truck with two other people inside was flying through the intersection when he blew a red light and hit another vehicle, killing the driver of the other car -- 54-year-old Warren resident Ricky Buckner.

"There was a pickup truck that was traveling at a very high rate of speed, driving erratically southbound on Ryan," said Deputy Warren Police Commissioner Louis Galasso.  "As they approached the intersection at Nine Mile, drove into the left hand turn lane, disregarded a solid red light, entered the intersection without even braking and collided with the 54-year-old Warren resident."

Police have not released the name of the Detroit man they say caused the accident, although they did say that he has two prior alcohol-related driving convictions.

"Some of the people in the speeding pickup truck were certainly consuming alcohol based on their statements and their condition.  Reserving right now stating that it was actually the driver because of the medical condition that he is in," Galasso remarked.

That driver is in the hospital with serious injuries and has not yet been arraigned.
