NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Firefighters battled a huge fire at some three-story row houses in Jersey City, N.J., Wednesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at about at 12:05 p.m. at 27 Belmont Avenue and engulfed both sides of the building, officials said. The building suffered a partial roof collapse, The Jersey Journal reported.

About a hundred firefighters responded to the scene to fight the fire and evacuate three buildings.

The fire was under control by late afternoon, but firefighters were still putting out hot spots.

No one was hurt, but more than a dozen families are now homeless.

Firefighters arrived just three minutes after getting the call, which they say helped stop the fire from spreading further, Fox 5's Stacey Delikat reported.
