BOSTON (AP) - Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Michael Sullivan and his wife Theresa have reported earning more than $3.2 million between 2002 and 2011.

The couple paid about $741,000 in federal income taxes and $158,000 in state income taxes during the ten-year period.

That translates into $890,000 in combined state and federal income taxes at total tax rate of more than 27 percent as a percentage of their adjusted gross income.

GOP Senate hopeful Gabriel Gomez reported earning more than $8.5 million between 2007 through 2011, paying nearly $1.9 million in taxes, while fellow Republican candidate Daniel Winslow reported earning nearly $2.9 million between 2003 and 2010. He paid an average of 22 percent in federal taxes on that income.

The primaries are scheduled for April 30. The special Senate election is June 25.
