BOSTON (AP) - An Everett man has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in the stabbing death of a hair stylist whose body was found last month beneath an Interstate 93 overpass in Boston.
Thirty-nine-year-old Christopher Powell was ordered held without bail after his arraignment Wednesday.
A prosecutor said in court that 44-year-old Corey Thompson was stabbed eight times during a fight between the two men. He said evidence includes surveillance video of the men near where Thompson's body was found at Albany and Traveler streets.
Powell's lawyer, Michael Bourbeau, said his client did not start the argument and acted in self-defense.
Thompson's body was spotted Feb. 25 by a passer-by.
Co-workers say Thompson was a stylist at a Newbury Street salon who was popular with customers. He lived in the South End.
