Dorchester men charged in beating outside cafe

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Two Dorchester men are facing assault charges for their alleged connection to a Saturday morning stabbing.

Boston police officers were driving down Dorchester Avenue just after 1 a.m. when they saw a fight in the parking lot of the 1221 Cafe. The officers say they saw a 42-year-old Asian man walk into the road and collapse to the ground.

When the officers approached the victim, who was being helped by another man and woman, they noticed he was bleeding from the back of his head. The woman told police he had been stabbed. Other witnesses also reported that the victim was punched and kicked by two men and that one of the men hit the victim with a hammer. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say prior to being transported, the man pointed out the car belonging to the person he claims stabbed him. When the driver tried to pull away from the scene, police pulled him over and approached the driver's side window. The driver, who police identify as Dung Q. Troung, reportedly had bruising and cuts on his face, as well as blood on his hands. Dung Troung and another man, identified as 25-year-old Khang Troung, were arrested and charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

Police say Khang Troung will be extradited by Connecticut State Police on fugitive from justice charges.
