Easter Sunday temps to be near 60 in some places

Posted: Updated:

Temperatures were above average Saturday with highs climbing into the mid to upper 50s, under mostly sunny skies. The high pressure that brought us the beautiful weather Saturday stayed with us overnight and will continue through the majority of the day Sunday.

The mainly clear skies and light winds Saturday night allowed temperatures to tumble back into the 20s across the interior with lows in the 30s near the coast.

It was be a bright, but chilly start to your Easter Sunday. Expect temperatures to jump into the 50s by midday with partly sunny skies and a freshening southerly wind. Through the afternoon, max highs will get to near 60 in some places, but clouds will be increasing. Winds may also be gusty at times ahead of an approaching cold front. It will turn mostly cloudy by evening with threat of rain on our doorstep.

A cold front will push rain into the region late Sunday into Monday. Rain may be heavy at times overnight, with a few rumbles of thunder not out of the question. This cold front will push off the coast by morning and there may be a brief break in precipitation. Temperatures will still be mild, but begin to fall through the afternoon as a reinforcing shot of colder air along a secondary front will begin to slide into southern New England accompanied by some clouds and a brief shower.

The passage of this cold front will keep temperatures below normal through Wednesday with highs only in the 40s. But we warm back up by the end of the week into the weekend with highs in the low 50s!

Have a happy and safe Easter everyone!
