KINGSTON, Mass. (AP) - The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center says it will commission a study of shadow and light produced by wind turbines in Kingston.
The Patriot Ledger reports that spokeswoman Catherine Williams says the agency is developing the scope of what's called a shadow flicker study. She says the review will provide data about the number of homes affected by flicker and the times during the year when they might be affected.
The Board of Health has asked selectmen to direct the town's lawyer to negotiate with Kingston Wind Independence to reduce shadow flicker.
Williams said the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center would prefer that the developers of the five turbines in Kingston work with the town to conduct flicker studies and share the data with the public.
