Man accused of trying to extort money from well-known Boston personality

(MyFoxBoston.com) – A criminal complaint has been filed against a man who reportedly tried to extort money from a well-known, married Boston personality by threatening to injure the unknown personality's reputation.

Felix Paulino is accused of threatening to release a supposedly incriminating video of the unknown personality at a Boston nightclub if he did not receive a payment of $20,000.

Paulino reportedly contacted an agent who represents the personality in the beginning of Oct. 2012. He left a voicemail with the agent claiming he had "incriminating evidence against one of your clients" and requested the agent call him back.

According to an affidavit submitted by an FBI agent, the message further stated, "If you don't get back to me, I will go viral. I will go viral. If I were you, I'd make that call."

The agent then reportedly contacted a person the FBI dubbed a "cooperator" who returned Paulino's call.

Paulino reportedly explained to the cooperator that he had a three minute video of the personality at a private backroom of Venu.

In the video, Paulino claims the personality can be seen talking to several young women and attempting to lure them to his room. He claims the personality touched the young women and told them that he is a "player" and that they are not.

Paulino reportedly told the cooperator that he would sell the video to celebrity news website and outlet TMZ unless he received payment.

Following the initial conversation, further calls from Oct. 25, 2012 to approximately Nov. 6, 2013 were recorded. During these calls, Paulino and the cooperator reportedly talked about the tape, the unknown personality in the tape, and arrangements to meet and exchange the money.

Paulino also reportedly told the cooperator that he was very close to the personality in the club and could also be seen in the tape.

During this time, there were reports in the media regarding the unknown personality's financial situation, court documents reveal. Paulino reportedly referenced the findings in a recorded phone call.

After some discussion, Paulino and the FBI agent agreed to meet on Nov. 6, 2012; however, the meeting did not take place. Paulino reportedly left the agreed upon location possibly after suspecting something was awry and fled with two unknown males to Lowell.

An investigation is ongoing.
