SHREWSBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Tires were slashed on 23 cars and three vehicles were set on fire in Shrewsbury, according to police. One of the cars set on fire belongs to a nun.

The cars were in the parking lot of the Shrewsbury Tower senior housing complex on North Quinsigamond Avenue and the Shrewsbury Green apartments on South Quinsigamond Avenue.

At 8:30 p.m. Monday, Shrewsbury police were called to 36 North Quinsigamond Ave. for a report of a suspicious male in the area of the parking lot. As police searched for the suspect officers said they discovered 16 vehicles had their tires slashed.

Police also found a vehicle in the parking lot, belonging to a nun, had been intentionally burned and its interior was damaged. One person who lives in the Shrewsbury Tower building told FOX 25 at least two tires on each of the cars were slashed.

Monday night at the Shrewsbury Green Apartments at 35 South Quinsigamond Ave., it was reported to Shrewsbury police that two cars were intentionally set on fire. These apartments are a short distance from the scene of the tire slashing and arson and police said it appears the crimes are related. Both vehicles had interior damage as a result of the arson.

At 8:42 a.m. Friday, a report was made to Shrewsbury police, saying cars had their tires slashed at Shrewsbury Green apartments.

Police are investigating. Anyone with information on these crimes should contact Shrewsbury Detective Michael McGinnis at 508-841-8436.
