Pembroke teen accused of driving at teacher

Posted: Updated:

PEMBROKE, Mass. (AP) - Police say a Pembroke High School student caught by school officials with a bong in his backpack later drove his car toward a teacher trying to stop him.

Michael Muzyka was released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty Monday to charges including assault with a dangerous weapon and marijuana possession.

Police say after officials found the bong Friday afternoon, a teacher tried to stop the student from leaving campus by standing in front of his car. Police allege the 18-year-old Muzyka accelerated, forcing the teacher to move aside to avoid being struck.

Police tell the Patriot Ledger a witness saw him tossing something from his car about two miles from campus. Marijuana was recovered at the site.

He was arrested when he returned to campus later.
