Arrest Made In 2012 Murder Of Atlantic County Man

ATLANTIC COUNTY, N.J. -

The son of an Atlantic County man killed last year says news of an arrest in the case comes as a relief but is also frustrating.

Investigators in Atlantic County announced on Tuesday the arrest of a 32-year-old Florida man in connection with a murder case from February of last year.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Michael Castro of Dania, Broward County, Fla., was arrested in connection to the murder of 77-year-old John Kingsbury.

Kingsbury was found bleeding by a family member in his home on the 2100 block of Woodland Avenue in Mullica Township back on Feb. 5, 2012. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly after he was found.

Investigators say he was shot twice in the head.

Glenn Kingsbury, the victim's son, tells FOX 29 the suspect was a family friend who taught his own son karate.

"We stood behind this guy and who knows what he was up," Kingsbury said.

Kingsbury says he got a call from the prosecutor's office Tuesday morning, informing him of the arrest.

Castro was arrested at his home, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. The prosecutor's office says they plan to extradite Castro to New Jersey.
