Mass. man sentenced to 25 years in drug case

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) - A 31-year-old Randolph man who federal prosecutors describe as a leader of a Cape Cod drug trafficking operation has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Tuesday that Russell Rose was sentenced Monday in federal court in Boston. He was convicted in December along with 29-year-old Kevin Frye of East Wareham of participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and heroin on Cape Cod. Frye still faces sentencing.

Prosecutors said Rose and Frye were the leaders of an organization distributing large amounts of cocaine and heroin between 2008 and 2010. A total of 27 people were arrested in 2011 in a joint federal and state investigation. Fifteen have been convicted in federal court.

Prosecutors said Rose had previously served a federal prison sentence for drug trafficking.
