No one was allowed out or in the neighborhood as events unfolded on Wednesday.
Katherine Roberts was inside her home, just down the street from where the man was holding the firefighters at gunpoint.
Police told her not to leave her house and her fiancé was not allowed to come in, so they kept in touch through text messages.
Worried about her children, 3-year-old Hayden and 9-month-old Victoria, Roberts said she tried to keep them calm.
Around 7:30 p.m., she and her children heard and felt the flashbang that signaled the end of the ordeal.
"Honestly, I kept looking out the window just to, you know, obviously see what was going on, and what was going to happen, and then you heard it, and there was a sense of relief, in a way, because it was done. It was over," Roberts said.
Roberts said that she doesn't know anything about the man who held those firefighters hostage. She said she is thankful that the firefighters were OK.
