SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

A lingering spring storm has dropped several inches of rain on southeast Michigan over the past 24 hours.

Weather Authority Ben Bailey says flood watches are in effect through Friday for most of the area.

A flood warning continues Thursday for the Clinton River in Sterling Heights and Clinton Township. Forecasts call for the river to rise above flood stage (16 feet) by Thursday evening. The same applies for the Rouge River in Detroit, which is expected to rise above flood state and crest above 15 feet after midnight Friday.

Bailey says temperatures will reach the low-40s Thursday. He says more rain is expected to fall during the evening hours and into Friday morning. The weekend should be dry and temps could get up into the 60s by Monday.

The National Weather Service in Marquette says snow in the Upper Peninsula is expected around midday Thursday and into Friday. By the time the storm ends, forecasters say Marquette County could see 7 to 11 inches. In higher elevations in the Upper Peninsula, up to 14 inches is forecast.

Parts of the northern Lower Peninsula will get a mix of snow, sleet, rain and freezing rain. Minor snow accumulation is expected in most places.
