Mar Yvette's Weekend Roundup

Weekend Roundup: Lucha Libre, Belly Bombz, DTLA Artwalk and Chris Stills

Posted: Updated:

FOX 11's food and fun expert Mar Yvette searches the Los Angeles area for some of the best places to eat, drink, shop and have a great time. Featured guests then swarm our FOX Television Center parking lot every Thursday morning between 9am and 10am on Good Day LA, creating a big party as one jam-packed segment known as the Weekend Roundup!

Here's more information about the guests we featured:

Lucha Libre U.S.A.

Fierce, high-flying, entertaining ... and sensitive? Si, senor! Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors "United We Stand Tour" is in town on Sunday, April 14 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, but not before bringing an even more powerful message to schools and clubs in the LA area. In an effort to raise awareness of and combat bullying in schools, legendary Luchadors RJ Brewer, Rocky and reigning champion Solar will be speaking at local LA schools and Boys and Girls' clubs April 8-11 to share the message (the way only they can) that the wacky stunts luchadors perform in the ring should stay in the ring, and bullying is never an option. Lucha Libre USA brings family-friendly entertainment to a whole new level. Audience participation is included in all the live events and fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite luchador. Prizes are awarded to the best-dressed fan, the loudest fan and the fan with the most creative
sign. For more info visit www.luchalibreusa.com.

DTLA Artwalk

Who says nobody walks in LA? The once-a-month Downtown Art Walk is back this Thursday, featuring great art, music, events and food, including WILD, a multimedia pop-up gallery hosted by DTLA-based fashion brands SpiritHoods and The Mountain tees at Exchange LA. Performing at WILD will be The Bumbys, the anonymous performance art duo taking the art and social scene by storm, who will be composing a "Fair and Honest Appraisal of Your Appearance" in
the form of witty and original poems typed out spontaneously on their typewriters. The WILD event also features live art by talented artist (former Disney illustrator) Vishvakarma, as well as merch from SpiritHoods which is donating 100% of all net profits to their supported nonprofits
that aid wildlife conservancy. The event is open to the public from 8pm to 1am (VIP reception from 6-8pm) and The Bumbys will be giving their poetic fashion appraisals from 7:15pm to 9:15 pm.

Belly Bombz

Thinner, crispier fried chicken that's better than the norm. That's what the new food truck Belly Bombz aims to give you when you try their Korean wings and sliders made with can't-believe-it flavors like soy caramel, sriracha lime and spicy garlic parmesan. The truck will be at the Downtown LA Artwalk tonight, but if you can't catch them then, chances are they'll be in a neighborhood near you. They travel all over LA from Cerritos and Long Beach to Van Nuys and soon with a second truck in Orange County. Follow them on Twitter @bellybombz to get the latest schedule and menu updates.

Chris Stills

Legendary trio Crosby, Stills & Nash makes its only LA area performance this year on Saturday, April 13 at Club Nokia for the Light Up The Blues Concert -An Evening of Music to Benefit Autism Speaks and we're starting the party early with Chris Stills, son of legendary Stephen Stills and an incredible guitarist in his own right. Chris will be part of the all-star fundraiser, emceed by Jack Black, that also features Rickie Lee Jones, Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, Don Felder, plus three student performers with autism. The night will have plenty of other celebrities including Christina Applegate and Charle Sheen who will be auctioning off a couple guitars. Now that's winning! You can get tickets HERE and learn more about this important charity at Autism Speaks.

Sutter Zachman had his first record deal when he was barely out of his teens. You may have seen the Orange County native was on stage at the Largo and other hot clubs around LA. He then left town...after what he called a few "bouts" with the music business, but now he is back with a new EP called ‘Repeat Offender.'
