CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. -

The West Brandywine Township manager was arrested after being accused of misappropriating hundreds of dollars in township money, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan announced Thursday.

According to the district attorney, 59-year-old Ronald Rambo of Coatesville was arrested. He has served as the township manager for more than 20 years.

Instigators say Rambo used his position as town manager to defraud the township using forgery and other means. According to a criminal complaint, Rambo was confronted about the misuse of township money but had agreed to pay the township back. However, investigators claim he continued to misappropriate funds.

In one instance, Rambo allegedly submitted a medical receipt for reimbursement to the township that claimed $15 for a doctor's visit for his son. Investigators say Rambo then approved his own reimbursement. According to the criminal complaint, Rambo then allegedly took the receipt for his son and changed the name to his daughter's and approved another payment to himself.

Rambo allegedly used other similar schemes, the district attorney said.

"There is no such thing as pretty corruption. Any misuse of public funds by a government worker undermines the faith and trust of the public," District Attorney Hogan said in a statement. "Any public employee who steals public funds will be arrested and prosecuted."

Investigators say, to date, $456.30 in funds were misappropriated. The district attorney's office says their investigation is ongoing.

"We are relatively fortunate in Chester County. Unlike some places where public corruption is commonplace, Chester County prides itself on maintaining high standards among government employees," Hogan said. "We will not stand for corruption in Chester County."
