A 12-year-old chef is making her mark in the kitchen and in life. Hannah Shaver has been fighting neuroblastoma most of her young life, and on Sunday she shared her recipe for courage.With the help renowned Atlanta chef Jay Swift, Hannah was able to sharpen her culinary skills thanks to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's at Scottish Rite.Coming off a week of chemotherapy, Hannah was delighted to get a private lesson from Swift in a professional kitchen. The 6th grader says she wants to have her own restaurant someday.I've always dreamed of having my own - so now I know what a kitchen should look like. How the people should work and stuff," said Hannah.While working toward her dream, cooking is also a distraction from pain and the monthly chemotherapy treatments. Hannah shows an appetite for life, and her mother says it has taught her courage."It gives you strength. It makes you learn to be just as strong as she is," said Hannah's mother, Sydney Shaver. The special outing for Hannah was all part of the center's spring break activities.
