NYPD investigate death of infant in Queens

NEW YORK (AP) -- The NYPD is investigating the death of a 6-month-old infant girl in Queens.

Police say they responded to a 911 call of an unconscious baby at 93-24 Queens Blvd. at 10:23 p.m. Monday.

They found the child unresponsive. EMS transported the infant to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

    The NYPD arrested a suspect in the attempted sexual assault of a mother in front of her three children.  Police say they busted Pedro Vargas, 48, of Yonkers on Thursday.  Chilling surveillance video released by cops showed a  man pretending to be a livery cab driver, pulling the woman out of a car, elbowing her five-year-old child in the face and tossing her three-year-old child onto the sidewalk in Queens.
