MARLTON, N.J. -

New Jersey State investigators say Daryl Turner and his wife Robyn Bernstein are still living the good life in their mansion tucked away in the woods in Marlton, but authorities say they laundered $700,000 in criminal proceeds from their victims to buy it.

"These defendants allegedly tricked people out of their hard earned money promising vacation deals that they knew did not exist," said N.J. Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa Tuesday.

The 41-year-old Turner and the 43-year-old Bernstein were indicted Tuesday for conspiracy, money laundering and theft by deception in a travel scheme that allegedly promised large discounts and benefits to consumers who bought pricey vacation packages.

"There really was no value in the memberships consumers were paying for," said Deputy AG Lorraine Rak.

"We allege that they simply made the fraudulent promises so that they could steal the money from the customers," Chiesa said.

The couple allegedly ran eight different companies from Cherry Hill to Marlton. The state says they failed to deliver free round trip airline tickets and cruises after customers paid them hundreds of dollars in fees and surcharges for the free promotional trips.

"These are charismatic people, they lure you in, they make promises they can't deliver on. I think it happens all the time," Chiesa explained.

Investigators put a lien on the luxury home, but there were still two Mercedes in the driveway Tuesday. The state seized a Bentley, a Ferarri , a Land Rover and a speed boat.

"Those are things we can convert to cash and give money back to the victims," Chiesa added.

The couple faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Turner had agreed to repay $3 million, $2 million of that to over 600 alleged victims. Their attorney did not respond to our call for a comment. Turner and his wife will be in court later this month.
