Emerson College students raise $575,000 for One Fund Boston by selling T-shirts

Posted: Updated:

(MyFoxBoston.com) - Two Emerson College students have raised $575,000 for Boston Marathon bombing victims and their families by selling T-shirts.

Nick Reynolds and Chris Dobens appeared on Studio B with Shepard Smith on Fox News Channel Thursday afternoon. The students said they contacted Milwaukee-based design company Ink to the People last Monday night with plans on designing and distributing T-shirts that read "Boston Strong."

Despite an initial goal of $1,500, Reynolds and Dobens raised close to $600,000. The shirts sell for $20 each. Five dollars pays for the shirts and printing, while the rest goes to One Fund Boston, which was created to benefit the victims of last week's bombings.

So far, One Fund Boston has received $20 million in donations. State officials said they will distribute the money by the Fourth of July.

The shirts can be purchased at inktothepeople.com or at facebook.com/StayStrongBostonStrong.
