WASHINGTON -

Metro says part of the red line will be shut down for weekend work.

Metro says that beginning Friday night and continuing through Sunday, free shuttle buses will replace red line trains between the NoMa-Gallaudet and Takoma stations. Passengers who take an express shuttle bus should add 20 minutes to their travel times and those using a local bus should add about 30 minutes.

In addition, on the blue and orange lines, trains will share a single track between McPherson Square and Smithsonian. Metro says customers should add 10 minutes to their travel times.

Finally, on the green line, trains will single track between Greenbelt and College Park and between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue.

Metro is also opening an hour early Sunday for the Nike Women Half Marathon.
