FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -

Desmond Trufant is excited to be the newest member of the Atlanta Falcons, and that was clear when he got the call from the Falcons telling him he was their first-round draft pick.  The Falcons posted part of that call from the war room on YouTube.

The Falcons traded up to get Trufant, selecting the former Washington Husky cornerback with the draft's 22nd pick.

During the first round, Falcons head coach Mike Smith and owner Arthur Blank called Trufant to tell him he was officially being selected, and Trufant was overcome with emotion.

Smith told Trufant that Blank's plane was coming to get him Friday as the room erupted with applause.   Trufant cried as Blank told him, "We're excited about having you on the roster, excited about you being a Falcon."

"You can talk to your brothers about being a Falcon, they'll tell you what kind of an organization we have here," Blank said.  "It's pretty special."

Trufant's older brothers, Marcus and Isaiah, are also cornerbacks in the NFL.

Trufant will be introduced as a Falcon in a 3 p.m. news conference this afternoon.
