A Morrow High School student has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a classmate on campus.
Clayton County school officials say the assault happened on Monday during school hours. They say 18-year-old Terrell Gardner is accused of assaulting a17-year-old student in the band room.
The victim apparently told a teacher. The teacher was obligated to report the incident, and reported it to a school resource officer.
The school resource officer started investigation that led to the student's arrest.
Parents at the school tell FOX 5 they are appalled that the school never notified them of the assault. School officials say they are not obligated to do so, saying it was an isolated incident involving one student.
In addition to the arrest, Gardner was suspended for 10 days pending a tribunal hearing.
