James Purefoy: People Are Scared To See Me Out

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 11) "The Following" airs its season finale tonight and the cult leader played by James Purefoy is not in good shape. He's nursing a stab wound plus he's all hopped up on alcohol and pills.

Purefoy told Good Day LA that fans of his show often seem scared when they see him in public. That's what happens when you play a sadistic killer who charms a cult of fanatic followers into committing murder and mayhem for him!

We're told the finale promises to answer all questions that viewers may have.

Fun facts about James:

  • Purefoy was born in Taunton, Somerset, U.K.
  • Purefoy's early professional roles included Romeo in Romeo and Juliet.
  • Best known for playing Mark Antony in the HBO/BBC original television series, Rome.
  • He starred as Teddy Rist in the summer television series, The Philanthropist, which aired on NBC in June 2009.
  • Purefoy was screen tested for the role of James Bond in 1995 for GoldenEye, but ultimately lost the role to Pierce Brosnan.
