Authorities in Spalding County say human bones were found near a shelter for homeless people on Monday.
Deputies with the Spalding County Sheriff's Office and Griffin police went to a home on Lucky street after they received a call about a person finding bones. Upon arrival, they viewed a bag of bones and believed they may be human.
Investigators were called in and confirmed the bones were indeed human. The person at the home showed police where the bag of bones was found. They say the bones were found near a shelter for homeless people located south of Highland Mill Bridge near East McIntosh Road.
According to police, the remains have been sent to the Georgia State Crime Lab for identification.
