Police: NH bar facing felony charge connected to assault

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire bar that was the scene of a dance-floor beating of a man who later died is facing a felony charge of serving alcohol in a restricted area, the Rockingham County Attorney's office has confirmed.

Police Chief Stephen DuBois said Tuesday the charge against The Page Restaurant & Bar in Portsmouth will be presented to a grand jury. The bar faces a fine of up to $100,000 if convicted of the charge.

Zachary O'Neill, of Dover, has been charged with first-degree assault. He's accused of striking Josh Krantz repeatedly on the head on the bar's dance floor. The 24-year-old Krantz did not seek medical treatment and went home, where he died April 6.

A phone message seeking comment from an attorney representing the bar wasn't immediately returned Tuesday morning.
