FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - Framingham police say an officer working a street detail for a tree service has been injured after being hit by a car.

Police spokesman Lt. Ron Brandolini tells the MetroWest Daily News that the officer was taken to a Boston hospital by helicopter after the accident at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on Maple Street. Brandolini said the officer was conscious, but he did not have immediate information on his condition.

He said the officer was hit by a car driven by an 85-year-old woman who lived nearby.

Local and state police are investigating.
