LIVONIA, Mich. (WJBK) -

Starting Wednesday, the city of Livonia and the 16th District Court are offering an amnesty program for overdue tickets.

During the entire month of May, the court will waive certain fees on traffic and parking tickets that could save people between $30 and $100.

To get the break, payments must be made in full. Personal checks will not be accepted. Credit cards will be accepted.

In Livonia, the amnesty applies to anyone who presents themselves at the 16th District Court, 32765 Five Mile Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

For those who wish to pay by credit card over the phone (additional fees apply), an authorization number must first be obtained along with the amount, by contacting the court at (734) 466-2500.  Payments made by mail MUST be postmarked by May 31, 2013.
