WYNNEWOOD, Pa. -

Police in Wynnewood say a homeowner managed to grab a handgun and fire several shots at two suspects during a Thursday afternoon home invasion.

The son of the two victims tells FOX 29's Chris O'Connell his parents are okay.

The home invasion was reported at a home on the 1200 block of Remington Road around 1 p.m.

According to police, the couple heard as many as three men knock on their front door. When they didn't answer, the suspects forced their way in through the back door.

But investigators say the man had a gun and managed to fire at least four shots at the suspects.

Police say no one was injured.

It's believed the intruders got away in a white car.

The afternoon home invasion had neighbors in the area shaken. Residents describe their neighborhood as being very safe.

Over the past year, neighbors tell FOX 29 the property crimes seem to be on the upswing. Since March 1 alone, there have been at least 30 reported thefts and burglaries from Lower Merion Township homes.

It's the latest home invasion that has residents wondering if criminals are getting more brazen.

Police are still searching for either two or three men in the home invasion. Investigators say they only have a vague description of the suspects.
