CANTON, Ga. -

The city of Canton is considering a $100,000 settlement with a former police sergeant who was terminated after being wrong accused of illegally using department funds.

Former public information officer Stacy Bailey was cleared of all wrongdoing in that case by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the district attorney.

Her lawsuit against the city relates to a separate issue: unpaid overtime wages and back pay.

The settlement was to have its first reading before city council on Thursday.

Bailey's attorney has sent a letter to the city threatening another lawsuit for libel in the case of her termination because she was cleared.
