BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Blunt force trauma to Tamerlan Tsarnaev's torso and head contributed to his death.
Tsarnaev's death certificate lists his cause of death as blunt trauma to his head and torso, as well as gunshot wounds to his torso and extremities.
The certificate lists the 26-year-old's time of death as 1:35 a.m. on April 19.
Tsarnaev died following a shoot out with police in an East Watertown neighborhood. Investigators say they had the 26-year-old marathon bomber handcuffed, but they had to jump out of the way when his 19-year-old brother, Dzhokhar, began driving a car toward them as he fled the area. The teen reportedly ran over his brother while fleeing.
Tsarnaev's body was released to family members Thursday. The Mahoney Funeral Parlor in Worcester, which has knowledge of Muslim services, is making his funeral arrangements.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was found hiding in a Watertown resident's back yard on April 19, is in custody at FMC Devens. Peter Stefan, owner of the Mahoney Funeral Parlor, tells FOX 25 Tsarnaev's uncles were at FMC Devens Friday.
