WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The body of a young boy who went missing while swimming with friends was found in a Worcester Pond Saturday.

Worcester police say the 10-year-old boy's body was found about 50-feet away from the shore in Bell Pond just before 8:30 a.m. Investigators say the boy was swimming with three friends when he went missing.

The 10-year-old has been identified as David Ndayishimiye. His father, Jean-Claude Nsengiyumva, said his son did not know how to swim.

A medical examiner is conducting an autopsy on the third grader.

Dive teams responded to the pond Friday afternoon for reports of a missing person in the water.

The search was called off for the day as the sun began to set and resumed at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Ndayishimiye's family is originally from the central African nation of Burundi. His father says the family is devastated by his loss and that they cannot afford a funeral.
