Schaumburg Boomers step up to bat as opening day approaches

Posted: Updated:
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

Good Day Chicago's Patrick Elwood tried his hand at baseball Tuesday morning. He joined the Schaumburg Boomers for batting practice.

General Manager Andy Viano is excited about the beautiful spring weather the northwest suburb has seen this past week, especially since opening day is only nine days away.

The Boomers held a small spring training exhibition on Tuesday, to show the public what they're working on. The players are chosen among the top high school and college minor league talent - and each has major league aspirations for their future in the sport.
