CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 22-year-old woman waiting for a bus in the North Side Rogers Park neighborhood last Thursday was forced off the street by a man who then sexually assaulted her, police said.

The woman was waiting for a bus about 2 p.m. last Thursday on the 6300 block of North Clark Street, when she was approached by a man who sat down next to her, a community alert from police said. The man then grabbed the victim by her throat and told her to go with him. He walked her southbound on Clark Street to Highland Avenue (6332 North) and into an alley where he sexually assaulted her.

Before he left the scene the man took his victim's cell phone and credit card.

The man was described as a black man with a medium complexion who is short and heavyset, between 35-40 years old, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with short black hair. He was wearing a white polo shirt with red and blue stripes and blue jeans.

Area North detectives have released a sketch of the suspect and are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the man, contact them, at (312) 744-8200.
