(MyFoxBoston.com) – The owner of $1,100 in cash was reunited with his banking envelope after he left it behind on the Route 73 bus traveling from Cambridge to Belmont Monday, the MBTA said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the MBTA Transit Police working in conjunction with the Cambridge Savings Bank to identified a Watertown man as the owner, but did not release his name.

An envelope containing the money was found by another passenger on a bus seat at about 5 p.m. The passenger turned the envelope into the bus driver.

The bus driver then handed the envelope off to a supervisor in Waverly Square in Belmont.

MBTA Spokesman Joe Pesaturo said the MBTA issued a press release Tuesday morning in an attempt to locate the owner. The amount of money was not disclosed at first because authorities wanted only the rightful owner to know how much cash was left behind on the bus.
