BARNSTABLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Cape Cod woman is accused of trying to sneak drugs into Barnstable District Court for a prisoner.
Samantha Best, 27, of Centerville, was charged with possession with intent to distribute class B, class C, and class E narcotics as the result of an investigation that began on May 1.
Investigators claim Best would visit the courthouse when the prisoner was scheduled for a court appearance and give him drugs. They claim the prisoner would bring the drugs back to the Barnstable House of Correction for personal use and occasionally give them to other prisoners.
Best was arrested at the courthouse Friday after she reportedly tried to distribute a bag containing 13 pills to the prisoner. She was under surveillance at the time of her arrest.
Investigators say they recovered the 13 pills and they have been identified as one Suboxone, four Clonazepam, and eight Seroquel.
Best was brought to the Barnstable Police Department before being brought back Barnstable District Court to be arraigned. She was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.
The prisoner involved in the case has not been identified. More charges could be filed against Best and the prisoner as an investigation continues.
