Authorities: Man struck and killed by train in Pullman

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday evening in the South Side Pullman neighborhood, authorities said.

The 60-year-old man was hit by the train near South State and West 116th streets and pronounced dead on the scene, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The train departed Chicago for Indianapolis at 5:45 p.m. and struck the man about 6:20 p.m., Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliara said.

The train was still delayed for the investigation as of 7 p.m., Magliari said. No passengers or crew onboard the train were injured.

Area South detectives are investigating.
