BOSTON (AP) - Prosecutors and defense attorneys for a friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have asked to delay a probable cause hearing for two weeks.
The joint motion filed Tuesday says lawyers for Robel Phillipos are reviewing materials turned over by prosecutors and prefer to have the hearing May 31 rather than May 17.
The 19-year-old Phillipos attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with Tsarnaev. He is charged with lying to federal authorities during the bombing investigation. Phillipos was released last week on $100,000 bond while he awaits trial.
Phillipos is not accused of helping Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev plan or carry out the two April 15 bombings. Three people died and more than 260 were injured.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in a prison hospital. His brother died after a shootout with police.
