Kermit Gosnell To Spend Life In Prison

Kermit Gosnell will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The 72-year-old abortion provider has waived his right to appeal the first-degree murder conviction by a jury just one day ago.

He also has been spared the death penalty.

Gosnell practiced for four decades in his West Philadelphia clinic. On Monday, he left the Criminal Justice Center in a prison jumpsuit and chains.

He appeared stunned as he slowly walked to the van that would drive him back to prison.

He was also found guilty of one count of involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of a patient, as well as one count of infanticide.

Gosnell will he be sentenced on all remaining charges on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

The District Attorney's office will hold a press conference Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

The gag order imposed by the judge will be lifted following Wednesday morning's proceedings.
