Judge denies Bulger's request seeking IDs of confidential informants
(MyFoxBoston.com) – A federal judge has denied James "Whitey" Bulger's request seeking the disclosure of the identities of confidential informants.
According to court documents, the judge issued the ruling Tuesday saying Bulger and his attorneys failed to show how the information would be relevant to his case.
The judge also ordered prosecutors to turn over any documents that "support of reflect" Bulger's contention that he was not an FBI informant, "to the extent any such documents exist," the Boston Globe reports.
Bulger, 83, the former leader of the Winter Hill Gang, is charged in connection with 19 killings. He was one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives while on the run for 16 years before his 2011 capture in Santa Monica, Calif.
