FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A town employee was arraigned from his hospital bed Tuesday following what police call a "serious domestic assault" on Ridge Road in Foxborough.

Town wiring inspector Glenn Saltis, of 72 Ridge Road, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment at Norwood Hospital to charges including assault with intent to murder.

The 49-year-old is accused of beating his ex-wife Monday afternoon with his hands, feet, and a weapon only described as a blunt object. Foxborough's wiring inspector is charged with domestic assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Court documents reveal his ex-wife, Julie Saltis, drove to her son's home on Church Street. Police say when they arrived they found Julie "covered in blood from her head to her feet, literally."

The couple's son told police his mother said, "Look what your father did to me."

Julie was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., for treatment. Investigators said she suffered significant injuries including a laceration so brutal that the right side of her skull, along with fatty tissue, were protruding. Her condition is unknown. David Traub, a spokesman for Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, would only say that she is alive.

Authorities say they found the inside of the Ridge Road home covered in blood, especially in the master bedroom closet where there was a metal shelving unit lying near a pool of blood.

Saltis was reportedly found in the Neponset Reservoir. Police claim he ignored their commands and that they had to canoe to him to get him out.

Saltis was transported to Norwood Hospital for possible hypothermia.

An investigation into the alleged domestic violence incident is ongoing.
