Are We Getting the Sun Protection We Need?

Posted: Updated:

In the War on Cancer, it's a huge failure.  Despite a boom in sunscreen sales, there is a staggering rise in the number of skin cancer cases.

The Skin Cancer Foundation reports that the incidence of skin cancer in women 18-39 is up 800 percent over the past 40 years. In young men, it's up 400 percent.

While genetics, tanning beds, and time spent in the sun all play a role, there's another theory as well. The Wall Street Journal reports powerful sunscreen ingredients available in Europe and Australia for more than 10 years have yet to be approved by the FDA for use in this country.

Hillary Fogelson, author of "Pale Girl Speaks" is a three-time melanoma survivor, who was initially diagnosed at 25.   Hillary believes that  remains healthy today because of the many sun protection precautions she takes.  You can learn more about her story, and check out her favorite products on her website,
