Famous Boston landmark to honor Marathon victims

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Drivers heading in and out of Boston on I-93 Saturday night will likely see a change to a famous Dorchester landmark in honor of the Marathon bombing victims.

Beginning at 8 p.m., the LNG tank located beside I-93 will light up in blue and yellow as the "Boston Strong" image is projected across it.

National Grid says they are proud to support "Boston Strong." They also announced Friday that their organization has donated nearly $70,000 to the One Fund.

The utility company says the projection was planned to coincide with the 109th Dorchester Day celebration, honoring Dorchester's establishment as a town.

The Dorchester community has come together in the weeks after the April 15 attacks to remember the youngest of three victims who died, Dorchester native Martin Richard. In honor of what would have been his 9th birthday, his family plans to hold a Mass at the Saint Ann Church in Dorchester on June 9.
