Two years later: Western Mass. residents remember deadly tornado outbreak
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Saturday marked the two-year anniversary of the devastating western Mass. tornadoes.
The outbreak, which included one EF3-level tornado, killed three people and damaged over 200 homes in the Springfield area.
Springfield residents held a moment of silence at 4:38 p.m. in honor of the anniversary. That is the exact time the EF3 tornado is believed to have touched down. An EF3 tornado is considered "severe" and is the third highest possible ranking on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
