REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Mass. State Police are reminding all residents to take extra precautions when hitting the beach this summer following two incidents that occurred as people were trying to escape the heat Saturday.

Troopers responded to reports of a missing 4-year-old girl at Revere Beach. After an extensive search, the child was found safe.

In a separate incident in Charlton, troopers responded to a near drowning at Buffumville Lake and State Park. A 29-year-old man was transported to UMass Lakeside in Worcester for treatment. His condition is unknown.

State Police officials remind residents that it is important to keep a close watch on children, to stay hydrated, and to never swim alone or in unsupervised areas.
