LOWELL (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Lawrence man was arraigned on murder charges Monday in connection with the stabbing death of his stepmother.
Jorge Aponte, 47, appeared in Lowell Superior Court on first-degree murder and armed robbery charges in connection with the March 9 death of Angela Aponte. He had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The state medical examiner determined that the 60-year-old woman suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck, bruising on her neck consistent with choking and a broken rib. Her 32-inch television and cellphone were missing.
Prosecutors say Aponte went to the woman's home in the morning on on March 9 and stabbed her. They said he tried to sell her television and phone.
